Getting Started

Installation

Exponential is a desktop application built for macOS. It runs locally on your machine — your code, your data, your control.

System requirements

  • macOS 13 (Ventura) or later
  • At least one AI provider set up (Claude recommended)

Download

Download the latest version from exponential.today.

Install

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file.
  2. Drag Exponential to your Applications folder.
  3. Launch Exponential from Applications.

Set up a provider

Exponential works with multiple AI providers. You need at least one configured to start using agents.

Claude (recommended)

Claude is the default and most capable provider. To set it up:

  1. Open Exponential and go to Settings → Providers.
  2. Click on Claude.
  3. Follow the authentication instructions to connect your Anthropic account.

Other providers

Exponential also supports Gemini, Codex, Copilot, and Qwen. See the Providers page for setup instructions for each.

Create your first space

Spaces are where your work lives. Each space is a workspace container with its own tasks, agents, and memory.

  1. Click + New Space in the sidebar.
  2. Give it a name (e.g., "My Project").
  3. Point it to a directory on your machine (optional — useful for coding projects).
  4. Choose an icon and color.

You're ready. Head to the Quickstart to create your first task and see an agent in action.
