What is Exponential?
Exponential is an agent orchestration platform. You act as the team lead. AI agents are your teammates.
You assign work, agents plan their approach, you approve, they execute, you review the output. The same management workflow you'd use with human teammates — except agents work in parallel, around the clock, and across every kind of task.
How it works
- You create a task — describe what needs to happen, with enough context for an agent to make good decisions.
- An agent plans — the agent reads your task, explores the codebase or context, and proposes a step-by-step plan.
- You approve the plan — review the approach, ask questions, or redirect before any work begins.
- The agent executes — code gets written, docs get created, emails get drafted. You see progress in real time.
- You review the delivery — the agent submits completed work. You approve, request changes, or give feedback.
This is the plan-first model. Agents never surprise you with unexpected changes. You're always in control.
What you can do with it
Exponential isn't limited to coding. Agents can handle any kind of work where AI can add value:
- Software development — write features, fix bugs, refactor code, write tests
- Documentation — create docs, write READMEs, generate API references
- Content creation — draft blog posts, create presentations, write copy
- Research — analyze codebases, investigate issues, summarize findings
- Operations — manage tickets, triage issues, update project boards
The same kanban board, the same workflow, regardless of what kind of work you're orchestrating.
Key ideas
| Concept | What it means |
|---|---|
| Task | A unit of work — the thing you want done |
| Agent | An AI teammate with a defined personality, knowledge, and skills |
| Plan | The agent's proposed approach, shown to you before execution |
| Skill | A reusable capability that agents can use (PDF export, code review, etc.) |
| Space | A workspace container — each project gets its own space with tasks, memory, and context |
